This film serves up some jump-scares, but also a certain amount of wild and crazy thrills and a number of wacky surprises. In addition to being scary, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is also thrilling, which is a different quality of excitement. Can Hector and Marisol solve the mystery of Jesse’s behaviour before it’s too late? At first he seems to have superpowers, but before long he becomes withdrawn and even violent. Soon after, Jesse begins to exhibit strange behaviour.
When it appears that a schoolmate has killed Anna, they begin poking around the apartment, finding curious articles of witchcraft. Soon the friends become curious about the strange noises coming from their neighbour Anna’s apartment. He gives a speech at his high school graduation, and his family and friends, Hector (Jorge Diaz) - who films everything - and Marisol (Gabrielle Walsh), throw him a party at their apartment complex. Jesse (Andrew Jacobs) is a normal, happy kid in Oxnard, California. A young California Latino named Jesse is marked for possession by the same malevolent demon who previously claimed Kristi and Katie. His best innovation is to give the story a refreshing angle, and make the film compelling. A writer on the series since Paranormal Activity 2, Christopher Landon directed this fifth entry.
